What made you??

When I was 18 years old, I saw the columbine massacre, in Littleton, Colorado on the news, I was devastated. It could have been anywhere in the world. It happen here in the US, which destroyed me even more. People's children scared for their lives. Parents left dumbfounded that this was even possible. How could something so gruesome and tragic happen? The comforting part was seeing how all the high schools around the nation, including mine, send cards and banners of condolences.  It is something that will always be on mind. A wrinkle of time that has been embedded in my feelings.

What event in you life time, do you remember in our history, that effected you to the core of your being?

Night Out

Playing the music to blind the mood
As drunken Honesty dances nude
Having no thoughts towards Reality
Deception dwells with Uncertainty
Raising glasses in honor of being Undefeated
Dreams and Revenge celebrate goals completed
Knowledge and Ignorance argue over Power
As Confusion walks in on the hour

Enthusiasm ditched Anger after a fight

Anger is now marked Depressed for the night
Singing together are Destiny and Fate
While Pity and Guilty try to communicate
Jealousy meets with Insecurity
So Overwhelm calls Conspiracy
They are to out of control to really think
So Intoxication buys them and Relax a drink

Passion is up to sing, bumping into Fate

When Silliness and Serious finish their date
Suspicion walks in with Surprise
They laugh to the dance floor caring all eyes
Faint grabs Rejection before hitting the floor
As Conceit and Ego walk out the door
Sharing past battle wounds the usual and rare
Success and Love had their fair share

Playing a tough round of cards on the other side

Greedy and Lonely play against Popular and Pride
Bouncing at the door was Cursed and Blessed
Opening the door to welcome Trust, Sin, and Confessed
Tired, Flirt, and Plain serve drinks to all
As the night softens and the pressure falls
Misery seeks her Company instead finds Stress
And Hope dances with Regret, who's a complete mess

Fear was stuck at home with Inexperience

Joining them soon would be Pathetic and Tense
Business denied Pleasure and turned to Crazy
They became friends as a counterbalance frenzy
Innocence had her eye on Corrupt for a while
Even Corrupt told Pure she did have a nice smile
While Unstable was being chased down by Commitment
Embarrassment runs out the door followed by Disappointment

When Careless and Smart got along they found Delirious

Then Grumpy, Patient, and Fun had their moment with Hilarious
Its complicated to separate Strong from her Hate
even Frustrate dances too close with Percolate
Childish and Heartless were trying to work things out
Yet Silence came, so there was nothing more to talk about
Health tried to convince Pollution to be more like him and Clean
But Noise walked up with Curious and began to intervene

Dropping their heads while leaving were Fake, Obsession, and Perfect

Laughing towards them were Flawed, Real, and Neglect
Center of attention was pointed towards poor Surrender
As he finished speaking with Stubborn the Defender
The night was now stale, everyone began to leave
Too much happened and even more was perceived
Yet the last ones left to end such a night
Was a combination, that just fit right

The tables were connected with laughter all around

Sitting was Happy, Cool, Awful, Stupid, and Loud

Dear Hamal

Hamal Chronicles.....

Now what kind of message can anybody write under the topic of HAMAL CHRONICLES. Do I have to be a hamal, know a hamal, or even know what the hell it means? Nooooooo! Just know that if you get up everyday and put your running shoes on just to kick some ass, we are proud that you "hamal it up" like the rest of us.

Sit and consider all the bullshit we endure and struggle with, JUST TO BE a "normal" human being in the eyes of our parents, peers, and this hilarious social network we call Persian Society. We are not Hamals because our culture sucks! (Our culture is amazing , GFY) Its the fight, no doubt! You don't love it, you just know that all of this is bragging memories. So you can one day tell younger generations how you fought to be you.

We, in any culture, society, country or religion suffer the greatest loss... not embracing the comedy, beauty and success that makes us who we are.

Where did we come from? Here we are... aslan confused. The soul of Iran and the heart of America. I'll take the Statue of Liberty and the Azadi Monument and assure you that I only know how to speak passionately about both.

Nevertheless, we are a trapped generation. A catch 22. Caught some where between our families struggles for freedom and our imprisonment to their guilt.  We never had to fight for our freedom. Never had to leave behind EVERYTHING to begin a new life for our families.  Ama. However!!!!!! Anybody who has Persian parents, will tell you, all the obstacles, mazes, and durugh's that they had to accomplish to taste freedom.

But that's what we are... Children of the revolution. A lost generation mixed somewhere between "We didn't start the fire" and "Let's set the world on fire". We'll never get through this adventure alive if we don't explore it for all its worth. So get proud, loud, angry, and question EVERYTHING
..This is the story of our lives...as it is happening
